Rhinoceros Training

training imageI provide four levels or types of Rhino training.

  • Level I: the basics, intended for beginners to Rhino, or to 3D in general. Navigating the Rhino workspace, the fundamentals of drawing curves, and basic surfaces and solids.
  • Level II: more geometry creation tools and the basic principles of NURBS you need to know to create clean models.
  • Level III: The curriculum for Level I and II comes from McNeel, it's in fact included in PDF format with your Rhino CD.  This advanced training is based on my own material. The exercises include complex blending, developing a design concept, and how to determine the modeling approach to take based on purpose and constraints of a model.
  •  Custom training: Specialized tutorials, consulting, or 'coaching' based on your own projects.

Training can be conducted on-site or online via email, voice, instant messaging, and online conferencing.

Corporate/Government Purchase Orders accepted.

Educational versions

With all McNeel products the educational version is identical to the commercial version, the only restriction is that the license cannot be transferred to someone else. It can even legally be used for commercial work, during and after your education. "Upgrading" to the commercial license is simple: when a new version becomes available and you no longer qualify for the educational discount, you buy the regular commercial upgrade.

Proof of status is required: student or faculty id, or purchase order.

Lab Kits

Lab kits are available only to schools. They can be installed on all the machines in one room, or as a floating license for 30 users over a network.

Rhino Resources

Here are a few Rhino-related links.

  • This short piece attempts to answer the single most common question from new Rhino users..."Why do things look wrong when I shade them?"
  • I have started working on an "online bonus chapter" of my car tutorial, showing the tires and wheels. It's a long way from complete, but you can follow along here.
  • This is a rather old tutorial on making a "splashing ball." While being very easy to do, it explains a couple advanced concepts in some detail...well that's the idea anyhow. Take a look.
