Rhinoceros Version 4 Upgrade
Rhino version 4 has a slew of new features and improvements. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Universal Deformation Technology - Rhino 4 is the first product that can arbitrarily deform polysurfaces. What does that mean in English? A lot of programs have this feature where surfaces or meshes can be deformed by throwing a 'cage' around them and pushing points, but not a NURBS solid, not while keeping the edges joined up. It's proven a big help for footwear and jewellery, and extremely handy for last-minute modifications to any sort of part! This technology has been applied to existing tools like bending and twisting, so that they can work on polysurfaces.
- Construction History - A number of commands now support construction history.
- Mesh tools - The old tag line of "NURBS Modeling for Windows" is going to have to be changed(actually, the "Windows" part as well.) A number of mesh tools commands have been added, mostly oriented towards repairing existing meshes as opposed to mesh modeling.
- Display - The realtime display has been completely revamped to take advantage of the capabilities of modern graphics cards. You can define your own new display modes with far more options to control the appearance of all elements, heck if you're up for some programming you could even write your own display pipeline!
